In our house we have windows that face both East and West. So unless it’s noon, during the morning and afternoon the sun is always shining directly into the house. As I’m sure you know the sunlight is powerful source of heat and in our house it can easily raise the temperature of a room from nice and cool to uncomfortable.
My wife heard about heat blocking curtains and did some research online. She found these at BOMULL curtains Ikea and they’re perfect. I have to tell you they make a world of difference! We’d both seen blackout curtains that completely block out the sun, but that’s not really useful if you still want to have light in your house during the day! Duh!
The BOMULL curtains block out the sun, but they LET IN LIGHT! They had several colors available when we picked these up at our local Ikea and we chose the off-white. So for $20 per window we can now enjoy the sunlight while staying cool inside.
You may think that this can’t make that much a difference, but you’d be wrong. It’s a huge change and one that you can instantly feel the moment you put them up.
On a side note I love Ikea’s product names like BOMULL. There’s no way you can get them confused with another brand. (Although it is possible to get them confused with other Ikea products!)
